About the Artist- Lorraine Lans

Lorraine Lans lives on an island in Maine where she paints landscapes en plein air. In her North light studio, she works on still-life and portraits, Her work reflects her studies in Impressionism, capturing the light on a subject and the varied light keys in nature. She studied with master Impressionist painter and author, Henry Hensche at the Cape School of Art, Provincetown, Massachusetts. She studied portraiture with his oldest student, Betty Warren at her Malden Bridge School of Art, Malden Bridge, N.Y. She began her studies at the Fenway Studios, Boston, Massachusetts drawing from plaster casts in the atelier tradition. She attended Boston University School of Visual Art where she painted the figure and sculpted the head in clay.
